Media and Global Warming
The media always wants a good story. Just as anyone good business man wants, business. So really, they will do anything to keep the story flowing and moving along. I am the type that isnt so quick to jump up and believe everything if anything they hear on the television. Honestly, everyone should be this way because the last thing this world needs is blind followers. by simply accepting what is around you without questioning you are giving in, you are losing your own individualism. Now, you may think if everyone wants to be an individual how will anything get down. Its simple in a antagonizing sort of way. People tend to befriend others with the same convictions and understandings, so talk amongst your friends to figure out if you can truly believe what you hear. Listen intently when others around you talk so you can piece together a puzzle. Just make sure you question.

Saying that everyone should question is a matter of opinion and circumstance. Now in most cases I agree that taking everything at face value would not recommended but there are times when it is necessary for safety. Lets say you are in a plane crash and i speak not only for myself but I will not argue with what they tell me to do. There is a small difference called trust. I would trust that a stewardess on that plane has been trained and is competent enough to know the safest actions to take in that emergency. It would be on my leisure time that I might question but in an emergency I would probably follow most of what is told to me.
ReplyDeleteThis is very true, but I feel that the evidence speaks for itself. It is not like global warming is something new and is just now being introduced. Keep in mind that many of studies have and are being done to keep track on our environment. It is our job as a whole to respect and take care of our environment. I agree that we should not just jump on the band wagon so to speak, but I feel the issue at hand needs our direct attention. Let's pay more careful attention to the bigger picture and follow those that have been already studying the issue of global warming.
ReplyDeleteOf course it is true that the media always want a good story to report on; however, I don't think that the media is all so bad. I do agree that they like to exaggerate and you do have to question all the information they give you before you ingest it. Even with it's bad reputation, we should still acknowledge the fact that it's providing us with the latest information at all times. Especially when the subject is something as big and controversial as Global Warming. Many people, including myself, are sometime too wrapped up with our own life to realize what's happening to world outside of our little bubble. So in my case, I kind of appreciate the media for providing the latest information. Although it may not be true but it, but at least I can get some sense of the direction the topic is going.
